Moonroof Wind Deflector

Moonroof Wind Deflector
I recently installed a moonroof deflector on my 06 TL. I now have this whistling noise that I hear evertime I drive over 50 MPH. I would like to know if anyone else has this problem with their deflectors. I'm thinking I should just remove it. But I would like to know if mine is defective first. Thanks.

You cant get rid of it, you can make it quieter.
install the front two brackets first. Push it as far forward as you can make it.
But umm... I figured out that if you press up (as opposed to forward or backwards) on the sun rood switch, the back of the roof opens.

I took mine off. I couldnt take it any more.
Did you install it? Dealer? Is the noise minimal or not there? I hate to throw away 100 bux... But, my car was dirty under it, and I didnt care for that either.

Got a survey from Acura about my trip to dealer to fix the deflector. About 2 maybe 3 hrs after I filled it out (online) My phone was ringing. Suddenly it a BIG DEAL!! Maybe we will find a fix NOW.....

I had the exact same problem with mine and it took a little while to figure it out but I finally did. It seems that unless the deflector and brackets are pushed as far forward (towards the hood) as possbile you'll get a whistle. If they aren't, the soft rubber piece that surrounds the moonroof will have a very tiny air leak and that's the whistle you're hearing. I kept thinking it was something on the deflector itself, or possibly and air leak around the bottom seal of the deflector but it's not. Apparently if the front brackets aren't completely flush against the car it keeps rubber piece from seating properly when you close the moonroof.
Heres how I fixed it:
Loosen all four of the nuts on the sunroof brackets about three turns each. With the screws and nuts loose have someone push the entire deflector forward. Have them keep pushing while you tighten the screws on all four brackets. This took about five minutes to complete.
After I did this I had zero noise.
Funny thing is, the last time I took my car in for service they gave me a TL loaner with a visor on it and guess what, it whistled like crazy.
When I brought it back I told them how to fix it, the service guy actually thought it was just made that couldn't be fixed. He said he was going to give it a try. They had actually been telling people not to buy them because they made wind noise!!!!

No More Whistling Noise!!!
Dealer had offered a refund but the wife liked that her hair didn't mess up when the moonroof was open. When the moonroof was closed, I would close the sunshade also to minimize that whistling noise.
I looked at the brackets and sure enough, one of the front ones had a gap. Followed Roybiggens instructions, took it out on the highway and WOW. NO MORE WHISTLING NOISE!
THANKS ROYBIGGENS!!!

Maybe I'm tone deaf, but I didnt like the wind noise... There was no whistle to it. But then again...
In my mind it sounded like a leaky air line. Leaking air, no whistle... I dont know, maybe I'll give it another try.
Thanks for the input.

Speaking of the moonroof deflector...
I just bought my TL 10 days ago. I am 6'3" and my head almost touches the top. As with most moonroofs, my head is too close to the top and the air turbulance drives me and my hair crazy.
Will this accessory allow me to peacefully enjoy the open air? Any others out there with the same situation?

I had a deflector installed last week. I complained about the noise. Three deflectors later, I had them finally remove it tonight. They gave me a credit for the full amount.
Maybe I'll print these instructions and have them try again.

I get the noise and it pisses me off, I have had it on 2 BMWs and never had this issue, this is BS from the get go, I have to close the roof and pull the sunshade closed to eliminate the noise! I thought it was just me, guess this is a common issue

I was looking thru the service manual and saw a procedure to adjust the sun roof. It was like open it all the way. Wait, and hold the close button until it closes. It will go past and then adjust itself...
I could be wrong. My manual is in the trunk of my car.

Pg 22-288 "Moonroof Calibration"
1. Turn the ignation switch on (II)
2. Open the moonroof to full open position and release the open button.
3. Pull and hold the moonroof OPEN switch until the moonroof glass moves slightly back to is mechanical stop and the forward again slightly.
- New Motor
- Other than new new motor: This will take about 13 seconds.
4. Release the OPEN switch
5. Within 5 seconds, pull and hold the moonroof OPEN switch again.
6. In about 3 seconds the moonroof glass will begin to slide close.
7. Continue to hold the open button until the glass moves to the closed position, tilts up, and returns to the closed position.
8. Test the moonroof auto operation.
Let me know how it turns out.
