Moonroof stuck

I opened my moon roof last night and it open just fine bu when i wanted to close it. It didnt want to close as it got to the edge. It would pull itself back just as it was about to close. When I stepped out of the car i noticed that the glass is slightly crooked. (will post a pic) I pulled on the glass to close it and after a few tries got it close. When i got home i tried to open it it wouldn't close again.

any input? has this happened before?

I got it closed and realized the passenger side is not flush with the roof

glass need to be realigned.

your moonroof wouldn't close from when it was fully open? or close from tilt function? or both?

in either case...the glass needs to be realigned and the rails need to be cleaned to prevent binding.

the moonroof on my MDX would not close ffrom tilt function (it eventually would but only after repeatedly trying to get it to close). my dealer attempted to fix it about 4-5 times (lubed, cleaned each time, and realigned 2-3 times). so far the last time they "fixed" it...all is well.

Loosen the 4 torx bolts (2 on each side) and while pushing up on the glass, tighten them back up. It might take a few tries.

Since i had the problem i never tried the tilt fucntion. I closed it pressing the button and pulling on the glass at the same time.

I will look for the torx bolts thank you.

the only reason i can come up with as to why it messed up is I was on the freeway and i opened it and closed it. But it seems to close just fine. only until later that night, it didnt want to close

It's not that bad. Just pull the headliner down or out which makes it easier and there are bolts and drain tubes in each corner. Remove those and have a helper lower the moonroof frame.

well that was just about the hardest thing iv ever done on my car...and for the record that means harder than the front sway bar and shocks and springs...we will see if that is harder than 105k service. doubt it.... for the record i had to:
take eveything off the head liner, take off A B and C pillars, take off side airbags, take down the whole frame that holds moonroof... the hardest part was ofcourse rebuilding the moonroof the motor has such high torque it requires alot of force to move it maually. it was really tricky to put the glass brackets on. after all of this i am never ever ever going to open my moonroof again. i still dont know what caused it to mess up however it is working right now. thanx for every 1 who helped and encouraged me

A friend of mine had a similar issue. Glass wouldn't close all the way or it would close unevenly

We ended up replacing it with a used assembly. Involved the same work in removing all the pillars and headliner but we didn't have to take the assembly apart. Just 8 bolts to remove and replace it.

Might've been easier but glad you got it working.

I picked it up used for 100$ from a member here. I would suggest that route!
