Mixing Power Steering Fluids
My Power steering fluid is currently low and just needed to know if I'm ok'd to fill it with new fluid. Car was purchased from private party, so I don't know what kind he/she used. Picked up some Accel(click) from the local autozone, states its a-ok for hondas/acuras. Thanks!
I would have used Honda fluid...JMO.
Here is a little backup saying the same....

If you ever need PS fluid again, it'd be best to drain the tank and just add new fluid completely to it. Most people here use turkey basters. just use some rubber piping do drain it from the hose connections.
Just make sure its Honda fluid....
But know this....draining your tank isnt going to replace all your fluid....as there is still fluid in all the lines, rack, ect. so make sure to use Honda fluid so you dont have a conflict therein and it should blend just fine...as as the above points out....you will end up with a fresher % of fluid than just adding a 1/2 pint or something.
BUT....I will tell you that if the fluid is old as hell....I wouldnt recommend doing anything but adding unless you are doing a whole PS flush.

I drain and fill the reservior once a year. It's far from getting all of the fluid out but it keeps a nice supply of fresh fluid and should eliminate the need for a flush later on down the road.
The only PSF I'm aware of that's compatable with Hondas is Amsoil. The Honda fluid is much thicker and I believe it has higher zinc levels. I'm always for replacing crappy factory fluids with better aftermarket fluids but this is not one I would test.
I used Amsoil before, through summer and winter and in the winter, the steering was a little lighter on the first cold start of the morning. I highly recommend it.
