Hey all, just got back from a 500 mile trip and this morning it had a misfire so I took the day off. Found a bad coil on no. 5 cylinder. I had an extra one, swapped it in and now it's better. The plug had oil all over on the ceramic and the coil tube didn't look good either, is whats on the plug from the pack melting?? pics below. Also a tick/chatter during first startup for approx 30 sec. time for a valve adjustment..?? Im gonna grab a can of sea foam, run some in the tank and try to clean the uppers through vac line. Plugs only have about 10k on them but should they be changed after all this, spurts of random misfiring and that coil dying on me.
I'm going to change the oil, and do the sea foam stuff. The engine seems healthy but at times runs like a tired dog. Gets good mileage avg reads 27 (lots of highway) but when I do lots of city driving it still like 20. I'm also losing coolant somewhere slowly and I haven't found it yet. In the back of my mind I feel like there's something with the head/ gasket that needs some attention. I don't really feel my vtech kick in either.
Thanks I checked all the other plugs/coil packs and they were good. Got the valve cover off but I'm not sure if they should be installed dry or wet with a light coat or oil or some certain grease. Thanks for the help!
