Mirrors going down in reverse glitching

Hi everyone,

I understand the mirror selector decides which mirror goes down, but my problem is once I select a side, it looks like the mirror glitches, and doesnt go fully down, it goes a bit down, that moves up and down quickly? I still have to manually move it down with the selector if I wanna see the driveway.

If someone knows if this is a fuse issue? Or maybe a part that needs to be replaced? Other than in reverse, the power mirrors work fine.

Thanks

Very easy repair, if you don't break the mirror

Don't use a screw driver! Invest a few bucks in a plastic pry tool and you'll be much safer. I've done the lubrication fix many times. There will likely be a point where your side mirrors just start doing their own thing; my passenger side mirror will all of a sudden move completely inward when I'm driving down the freeway. It will even move when I don't have that mirror selected on the controller. But right now, I don't feel like spending the $75 for a new actuator motor to fix it since I can still control it.

This is pretty much where mine are at now. I have taken mine apart for cleaning which helped for a while. But they are doing odd things more often now. I think the original stuttering is related to the grease while the new oddness is related to the electrical connections aging out. My boots are torn as well which I know will limit the lifespan of the mechanicals. Some day I will purchase new assemblies as well......

To note, I agree the plastic tools are better...but I did just use a long screwdriver wrapped in a shop towel with no issues. It is nerve racking the first time since you think you are going to break a mirror. So just make sure you are ready to pay for a replacement and try it. If you succeed, great!! If not, you have a new mirror with new mechanicals. Win-win in my book.

Stay away from any browned areas of mirror if you have that. They tend to be weak spots.

Broke my driver side actuator when i reinstalled it after lubing it up, tried everything and it still cracked the plastic arms inside... My memory seat postions completely stopped working around the same time i believe they are in series with the mirror actuator.
