I think it's from leaving the heated mirrors On too long. I think they probably sell just the lens replacement?

Go easy on me as I am a new poster. I've read up on this issue while I was doing research on 3rd Gen TL's. I guess I don't understand why Acura didn't install a timer switch that turned off the heated mirrors. I would think they had to understand that prolonged heat can discolor the mirror...

It's covered under your bumper to bumper warranty which is 4 year/50k miles. If you're past that, it's a really easy replacement, not sure on the price of the part though, haven't checked in awhile. Pretty sure it's def under $40. I can replace them all said in done in under two mins each side. Good luck

Yea mine is doing this too. I'm pretty pissed and since im at 77k on my 06 and i'm out of the warranty. I wonder if this will fall under the rust protection. I ran the heated mirrors all of 2 times since ive had the car.

nope. its one of those buttons like the VSA where either its in and on, or its out and off. the new TL changed this, at least with the VSA, where you have to hold it in for a few second in order to turn it off or on...its not one of those pop/lock kind of buttons.

the 3G should have had an auto shutoff, and there should be an indicator on the dash. from where i sit i can not see that little button lit up, i have to move my head to the side and down and that is just annoying.

That's nice, it looks like those old saloon mirrors. Very vintage.

I had mine covered under warranty. Same thing happened and the previous owner recalls leaving the heated mirror switch "ON" for weeks and each time a new brown spot would show up.

Thanks for the quick response. I emailed them to see if they can ship to Canada. The replacement glass here is $44.80 each plus tax.

to those who complain about acura not having a auto shut off.. RTFM!! its in the owners manual.. switch MUST be shut off manually and is only indacted by a yellow light.. and that panel is NOT illuminated with the light switch. to switch out the glass.. simply pry off w/a screw driver CAREFULLY! and pop new ones in.

Ok. They're asking for an auto off not how to push a button.

Some people forget and they leave it on so an auto off feature would be nice.
I personally never use it.

I replaced mine last summer, there is really no need for a how to... just move the mirror to a point where you can get something flat in between the glass and the black plastic during this I broke my old glass but it was no big deal. Once you get the glass there is a clip on the back for the heated mirror, unplug that and then clean the area as much as you can to be able to make the new on stick well... then plug in the new mirror the the heated wires, and stick it on... I was done in less than 5 minutes, easier than changing the oil.

Hope that helps ;-)

I am so glad I found this thread. This starting happening to me last year and I had no idea why it was turning brown. I'm going to order the replacement mirrors from acuraautomotiveparts.org and replace them. Thanks!

I know i am late to the party, but i believe this is just due to the tint releasing from the actual mirror. Mine started doing the same and I have never used the heated mirror function. I have seen this happen to other vehicles with the blue tinted mirrors. Link some Audi and Lexus models. Just something we all have to deal with for having awesome blue mirrors. It's hard for our TL's to look good ALL of the time.

I agree- I haven't used the heated mirror feature and I have some brownish splotches on the driver's mirror as well. It's not a huge deal and it sounds like the replacement part is reasonably priced and easy to replace. It's strange why the outside edges seem to have these issues which makes it much easier to tolerate at this stage.
