Unhappy Metallic popping/ pinging at 3,000+ rpm's

Hey everyone! I just got my first Acura! It's a 2006 TL 3.2L. Automatic. It has 107,000 miles. I got the car a month ago and it was smooth and silent. Recently I've notice that when get tot roughly 3,000 Rpm's there's a loud popping kind of sound (kinda hard to explain) it sounds like metal on metal and it sounds like it's coming from the the back of the engine in the center. It only happens in gear. At idle it doesn't happen. I've also notice when I'm accelerating and I go over a bump or hump in road, as the car goes up the sound goes away and when the weight of the car and engine come back down it pops and rattles. It makes me feel like it's a rattle because of that. Then again it sounds really bad and when I'm on the freeway it rattles almost non stop, it just gets drowned out a bit by the wind noise. I haven't noticed a loss of power or anything but I'm very worried about causing serious damage. The car is all stock performance wise. This started happening after doing my engine mounts. I did them myself and that's the only thing that has been done besides oil change and tranny fluid change. Does anyone have a similar issue? What was it? Also just another side note. I've been to Acura of Modesto CA twice and they have told me that it's "normal in the TL's" but it started after doing my mounts and I know that ain't normal...please help!

What kind of gas do you use?

It MIGHT be your catalytic convert heatshield. Visually inspect it

Intermediate shaft maybe? Check by tapping up under the car on the shields.
