Mechanic - Auto Trans Huntington Beach Area

I am looking for a sharp independent Acura tech in the Huntington Beach CA area who can look at my auto trans issues. I still have warranty and the Acura Service director told me I should not use the paddle shifters to drive the car, that the problem was non-existent if it was not occurring in the drive mode. PLus they can only yank the whole trans based on a PCM code being set.

I wouldn't take my car back to anyone who tells me to NOT use a feature on the car to avoid a problem. Change the pressure sensors, (there are 3 of them on the 07/08 models), and change the fluid using the 3x3 method. Id try that before seeking out professional assistance.

what are your symptoms? And kudos to Riverside Acura from me as well. they replaced my 5AT in my 06 while i was 100 miles away on a business trip under warranty. awesome service. to bad that AT only lasted 1500 miles.

Hmmm, Riverside is a long drive from HB… especially if I need to leave the car. But perhaps I can call them to start. Anyone specific to Ask for?

if its covered under warranty, you should be able to get a loaner. last time my car was there for the power steering hose recall, I got to drive a 2012 tsx with tech package for 2 days. best part, gas is free, dont need to fill it back up i drove 100+ miles during those 2 days lol

Thanks for the tip. I just spoke to John and he would like to have me show him and his technician the concern and then give me a loaner to leave the car there for a few days for his technician to duplicate the problem. It sounds like a no brainer, but I had to go and call my friend Art Carr first. He also wants to see the car, but cannot for a couple weeks. So I will likely hold off to let Art look before taking to Riverside.

As an aside, John stated that the 2007 and prior gearboxes are replaced frequently - I had read here that the 07-08 boxes were different and better than the prior years. Who knows. More info as I find out more.
