Massive FAILURE!

Today I go to take my TL to work and low and behold, it took 3 tries to crank. I get it and realize my seats aren't moving to the driver 1 setting so I press the button, and that doesn't work. I drive to work and park and leave it alone for a few hours, I come back to go home and it barely cranks. At home I take out the multi meter and the battery has 12v off and 14.4v on. Then I go to lock my car and post here about it and the TL isn't even freaking locking!

I go to move it around so it can get the GPS signal and then the car starts ldling at 600 RPMS!!!!! I try to shift into drive and it dives to around 400, almost feels like its going to stall and then jumps back upto 1K. The same thing happens when I try to turn on the god damn headlights or the stupid radio!!!!

To add insult to injury, I find that I'm missing a few spare fuses that I keep and that I don't have a 40 amp fuse for the RR defroster fuse underhood.

I think it may be the multiplex unit on the car, but the weird thing is the car hasn't gotten wet or anything in a while!

anyone think it may the multiplex or something else?

Sheeet! Another water in the PCM episode?? But the door lock is a new symptom that I don't recall hearing about with the PCM douching. Check the A/C drain tube? Good luck. May be best to have it towed to the dealer to avoid any possible damage to the engine/drive train.

the water is dripping fine, but speaking of which, I was hearing a gurgling noise behind the cluster 2 weeks ago for a few days and it went away the day I took the car to acura... I don't think its the PCM otherwise I would have a ton of problems related to the driveterrain, I'm having a ton of electrical problems!!!!

Yeah, symptoms other than the idling and cranking don't really fit with what others have reported, but someone with the PCM douching problem did mention a gurgling sound behind the dash. It was in one of the many "water in the PCM" threads. Hope it's a much simpler fix for you!

If the battery is barely hanging in there it will cause all kinds of problems.

It took me 5hrs at the dealership for a 10 minute fix (I'll outline a bit here and a little in another thread).

The battery was starting to fail (410 CCA's) and would barely keep the car alive when off. The tech (really good guy) said that the battery had a few spikes and thus caused the car's computers to go haywire. He reset it via HDS (Honda Diagnostic System) and everything was working fine, no need to reprogram the remotes, homelink, nothing!

However Acura's battery policy has changed and thus lead to my saga. I spent 1 hr at the dealer with a guy whose been working there for about 2 yrs now in service, but this is the first time I had dealt with him. I sat for about 10 minutes waiting for him to finish up with his other customer (understandable) then another 20 min when a tech came up and had a conversation with him about some other car he was looking at. Then he called me up, I showed him what was wrong and he told skippy (great guy at Courtesy Acura) to check the battery. Skippy checked it in 3 minutes without and told me the battery was toast. I went back inside to the service desk where the service writer then said the battery was bad. He said it was 99.99 and said that they wouldn't look at the car until the battery was swapped. I then mentioned that the battery warranty (100 months) should cover some of it since it's only been 2 yrs since it's replacement. He looks at me and says its probably not covered, and then I have to remind him that 100 months is longer than 2 years (24 months). He then says oh and looks up the battery replacement record and finds I paid 55 dollars for it in 2007. He then says without hesitation I'll give you 9 dollars for it and the new one will be 90 dollars plus tax. I ask him about the warranty and he says that if this one fails, it'll be prorated back to the orignal battery that was in the car (which is stupid beyond belief!!!!!!)

I tell him that I can go next door and get a better battery for less money with a much better warranty. He then pulls the normal generic service writer bullshit about them charging 25 dollars to install, they may screw something up, etc. and that I should trust acura. I said these guys change batteries everyday, they should know how to take out 4 screws and put them back.

He then blatantly says, "If you want to get your own battery, fine! We won't touch your car until you do!" and storms off. I leave the service center pissed beyond belief (I've brought my 3 acuras for serving here, bought 2 cars and this is how I get treated!)

I went next door to sam's club and got an energizer (yes with the bunny on it) for 75 bucks (700 CCA's) and then they told me it was an 2 hr wait. I got my new battery, when back to acura and borrowed a set of needle nose pliers from a good buddy there and changed my battery in the service bay in 10 minutes, returned the pliers back and brought Sam's back the old battery. I then went into the service bay where I'm greeted by my usual service writer (Angie).

She treats me really kindly and says she's so sorry about this mess and it shouldn't have happened. I said what's done is done, but I'm not going to take it up the ass and stick with it. She gets one of her senior techs to look at it and enterprise takes me to their place to get me a loaner car. As soon as I finish filling out the paperwork and am walking out with the keys, angie calls and says the car is ready. Dumbfounded I asked her if she was serious and she was. I had enterprise drop me back at acura and the tech (luis, great guy) talked with me, took me into the service bays and told me what caused it, how he fixed it, etc. I left without any incident after that, but this "new" battery policy is stupid beyond belief! Acura Corp. is def. hearing from me!

Cliffs:
Treated badly at acura by service writer
Went and changed my own battery
Got the car fixed in 10 mins, but took 5 hrs to get it to that point.

Summary:
A bad battery will def. screw up the car.

acura batteries blow

when i was parting out my Type-S... my battery finally gave... it died about 9-10 times over the weekend while i was parting it out, and moving it in and out of the garage

the faulty battery ended up messing up ALOT of my interior LED lights and my HIDs wouldnt ignite properly...

I brought the car in for service on tuesday, they replaced the battery... i traded the car in on wednesday
