Looking confirmation on part for my honda

mod can move if need be

Just looking for confirmation before i buy any parts

92 accord EX manual

1 got in turned on ignition and the starter would not spin but all lights and heater blower worked. i rolled it off. The same day it started 5 times with out a problem
2 this morning it would not turn starter over no clicking sounds just silence. I got out the battery booster didn't help (didn't think it would). With ignition in the start position when I press the clutch i can here it click once for every depression so im pretty sure its not the clutch switch.
I lightly tapped on starter it started up i drove 3 miles would not start again.
whats most likely part to start with cheapest first please its got 255k on it I have more than got my money out of it and it still runs great when it starts .
TIA

This problem is 98% caused by a bad main-relay (also called fuel pump relay). I had to replace one on my 89 and my friends 92 Civic just last summer. Usually they don't start failing until it gets hot out though, so there is still a chance it's something else.

The easiest way to check (when it won't start), is to turn the key to the ON position (not start). The CEL should come on and you should hear the fuel pump whirring under the back seat and then shut off after a couple seconds. If you DON"T hear the fuel pump, then it's for sure the main-relay.

A trick to fixing it yourself can be simply removing it, taking off the cover, and re-melting the solder on each of the tabs with an iron. A lot of times problems are caused by old solder cracking. I've never tried this myself, but it's always the first recommendation on Honda Tech when someone has main relay problems.

A new relay is like $50-$70 from Honda. If you do have to get a new one, look up your part number on HondaPartsNow.com and then order that part number from G1Parts.com. They have free shipping. Or go aftermarket for cheaper.

Yours should be #28 if you can find it in this crazy picture (upper left). Part number should be 39400-SM4-003 for $50.22, but you want to look via your specific model/trim/etc. Looks like it's where mine was in the CRX. Under the dash (drivers side) way up high near the heater vent.

Don't really think the main relay will keep the starter from cranking the engine.
Do the basics, clean the batt. cables & posts.Get some GOOD jumper cables & try to jump start it when it's in the no want to crank mode, that should narrow things down to bad battery or bad starter.
