Lines on my nav screen
I just installed an 07/08 navi screen in my 05 and it has those wavy lines too.. So that sure sucks. My 05 screen didn't do that. I thought maybe I didn't ground something properly but I see I am not the only person who has seen this.. It seems to disapate a little bit after it has been on for some minutes but its still there a bit more than I like. The lines appear to go back and forth if you turn the lights on the off which causes the screen to dim then go back to normal brightness. During that process I can see the lines reverse directions. Hopefully it will calibrate itself soon. I've only had my screen installed for a day.
I'm sitting it my car at the moment.. And just sitting here idling for 10 min its barely noticeable now. It might be adjusting itself to my car electronics.
I know one thing for sure.. This new screen fixed my clock problem that resulted from when I upgraded the DVD navi player. And this newer screen also sync's with the rear cam video much faster than my 05 screen. The video on the 05 screen would roll for a sec, and scramble as I would turn off the rear cam. I the 07 was made better for video input. The 05 did not have a rear camera. So maybe the modified the screen to handle a rear cam..

another update: while I was out driving, it reduced these faint wavy lines to the point I really had to stare to see them. Like essentially they were gone. I'm assuming it has to "learn".. anyway.. the new screen also allows me to press the sound button in the audio section. Those who have a UA6 and updated their dvd navi player, know what I mean..
I exchanged my 07 screen for another one. This one does not do it as bad, but I still notice some lines on mainly the camera. I never noticed any lines with my 05 screen, but when I did the swap, I also swapped the camera type and messed a little bit with the ground in the trunk and connected an rca cable to the video1 input (Navtool) which runs up to the center console. And I also added a homemade adapter made with an 07 pigtail, that goes from the 07 screen to the 05 connector behind the dash panel. So, I guess I will have to check the grounds and possible disconnect the new camera to see if it is causing any interference. But again, the lines are not as bad on this other 07 screen. Could be coincidence too.. I'll report back later.

I moved the ground on the camera and the navtool to another location. And I improved the connection from the navi screen to the harness since I created a small adapter that goes from the 07 navi to the 05 plug, and today is the first day I drove it 20 miles, and I can barely even see the wavy lines. After a few minutes of being on, they are non-existent to "nearly non-existent" on the camera. The other audio screen and map screen, there are not wavy lines. So, maybe the screen has to learn or maybe moving the ground helped. Or maybe everything I did helped it.. I don't know but I am happy with it now. The mod was/is worth it. I fixed the clock, and I can press the "sound" button in the audio screen. That was an issue when you have an 05, and upgrade the navigation player to the 07. So replacing the navi screen fixed all that.
