LED DRL Problem turning off and on randomly

2007 TL LED DRL started randomly turning off and on after a year. I have checked wires harness, LEDs, fuses, relay, and resistor. I can't figure out what is causing this problem. Relay is brand new and leds. Anybody have any input in this?

Do you have a multi meter? It would help tremendously with troubleshooting. Where did you buy the relay from? Looks like a crappy whatever ebay brand relay.

Hey guys thank you for the quick reply. The relay is from RadioShack and I do have multimeter I just don't know how to use it. Yes the harness is from JDM Toy, I didn't start experiencing this problem until after about a year. I did change the LED bulbs but I have spares they are all doing the same thing.

It could be the LED's, I know sometimes the cheap ones they over drive them and they overheat and shut off even being new. Since its been after a year maybe moisture has gotten in somewhere and causing issues.

Q: What is the...

Power source?
Ground, common or separate grounds?
LED DRL doing when when acting up... One side or both sides of DRL acting up at same time?

Try the following one at a time to narrow your search.

1. Swap the LED bulbs back to standard bulbs.
2. By pass the relay temporarily to eliminate the relay. Make sure it's still fused.

Power source is the battery, they have separate ground, one side acts up then the other follows not at the same time. Hmm good idea I'll try that after I test the factory DRLs

Assuming you are running 1 relay. If that's the case then the relay is good. If relay were bad DRLs would act up together at the same time.

Bulbs are still a culprit.

Resistors too.

I did notice the resistors get super hot, maybe is time to change those too, and I'll try different bulbs and see what happens. I'll keep y'all updated

Recap

Power, relay, grounds, wires/connectors are all good.

Problem is after relay. So bulbs and resistors are the only parts left on the table. Probably it's the resistors BC they're too hot and BC you've swapped the bulbs with other already.

Tip

If you can fine a "SMC" LED bulb to meets your specifications then use that bc SMC LEDs do not require a resistor.

I had a similar problem back when I had my TL. Refer to this thread

https://acurazine.com/forums/3g-tl-p...ing-up-888191/

The video isn't available anymore. I deleted it off my youtube awhile back. It pretty much showed me holding the relay still connected to the harness and smacking it against the battery and sometimes the DRLs would turn off and sometimes it wouldn't do anything.

Resistors or supposed to get hot. Resistance creates heat in electrical circuits. This is why they say you should mount resistors on metal because it can get very hot and it helps disperse the heat.
