Knock sensor circuit malfunction? wtf...

Hey guys,

So finally, just finally I managed to clear my CEL light (it's been on since god who knows and needed a knock sensor). Still with no window stickers, I replaced the sensor and wham, CEL was off for about 200 miles. All of a frigin sudden, the damn CEL light came back on for just what the title is mentioned. With this being said, I had high hopes when the CEL light went off for a little bit but just to my luck, came back on after a few miles (without resetting anything). Let me know what I need to do, I've been getting to many tickets for no inspection on parking public streets (aholes).

Thanks guys!

the knock sensor on our cars is in the middle of the engine. a high temperature location....with that said; the knock sensor is VERY brittle and will break beacuse of the temps.

be sure you didnt break it again. also, because its in such a hard tight location, it is easy to break.

have you checekd the knock sensor wire? I hear it's notorious for mice eating it so it may be damaged.

I bought the sensor from autozone. They seem to only sell one for the Acura TL. However, I didn't replace the wiring harness in which makes me believe this could be it.

I had to replace this myself when a mouse chewed through a wire. In taking off the wire I broke the sensor (bought sensor and wire because I didn't know what was wrong) due to it being brittle from the heat anyway. Didn't use an OEM sensor and it hasn't given me any issues over 10k miles so far. Wire was around $15-$20 on amazon, OEM with some rodent tape but I think YMMV for rat's chewing through it again...

Howdy i am new so I can't post my own topic but it is very similar. I have a 2005 TL. I got CEL code P0325 = knock sensor. I have read lots that points to either sensor, or wiring. Actually, some of the techs indicate the sensor rarely goes, more likely the harness from mice. And I have (had??...i caught 2 in traps ) mice in my shop so this is very possible. I am going to order both the sensor and wire to be safe because getting to the sensor looks like ugly job with intake manifold removal.

I am wondering if i need to spend 4 times the price on an OEM sensor, or if there are any issues with the cheaper after market sensors? Or a recommended decent brand of after-market sensor? I cheaped out on my Toyota Camry "fuel ratio" sensor and went through 3 of them before proper OEM Denso sensor did the trick. The Camry was in an easy spot so i didn't mind rolling the dice on after-market. In the case of my TL, seems like a lot of labor to get to the sensor so i will splurge if people have had issues with China brands.

Also, does intake manifold gasket need to be replaced, or anything else while in there? The videos and links I've seen for knock sensor location are difficult to actually see the sensor. Any great How-To links for this job? the ones i found aren't very good. Thanks!!
