Key Fix

Hello! Probably a simple question, but does anyone else's key look like this?

Any easy way to fix it short of buying a new key?

Thanks!

I've seen a few like that and I've also seen a few where the key is fully inside of the fob. I would just keep it

On my key, you can't even make out which button is which since all the labels are worn off.

Do you have a copy of the TSB? Or is there a place here to find it?

Yes it does, if you follow Ron's instructions at the top of that post:

1. Open this link[url omitted in this quote].

2. Select the entries as follows:
Acura

TL
Then click on "submit vehicle information"

3. Open any one of the listings.

4. You can now open the below listed links.
You click on the TSB link AFTER steps 1-3.

Has anyone tried some type of DYI fix on this? Would it hurt the key to take it apart and try?

If you're referring to the key poking out of the FOB (as opposed to the wear on the buttons), it's warranteed. I took my Driver 1 FOB for my MDX to the dealer when it was popped out like that, and they replaced it under warranty.

FWIW: Those switchblade keys are HORRID. I remember when everyone was soooooo excited that they were coming out. People were going out and buying them, then cutting up their keys and "cold welding" them to the switchblade base.

I would take the old style of a fixed-mast key with a separate FOB transmitter any day.

The keys I sold and Mr. Heeltoe sell are not cold welded, but actually the TL-S key milled and cut with a CNC machine to make the grooves so it's still the OEM key blank.
