Just bought 2008 TL

Hi Everybody. Wanted to get this model since I've sold my 92 legend. Well ended driving legacy for 7 years.

Anyhow, I just bought this 2008 Gray TL. 81k miles on it . It was slightly bearing left during the test drive and dealer promised to fix it. They also put a new set of cheap tires (Milestar MS932) which I will be changing as soon as budget allows.

Anyhow, bearing towards left side was fixed. THOUGH I've noticed this strange reading from onboard tire pressure :

32 46
32 32

(image included)

I still have 2 month 3k warranty on it.

What else should I do to make this TL last.

  • Should I scheduled a check up in official Acura dealership ?
  • Should I start putting synthetic oil?
  • Mods and such will come later.

PS. I love the car. very different ride after legacy.
P.S.2 Thanks for all the help.

Actually, I would check the tire pressure with a hand gauge and make sure the pressure is correct for all four tires...if you find that one tire has considerably more pressure than the others, correct that and then double check to make sure your "bearing left" issue is actually fixed...just hoping to be an error and not a dealer trying to pull a fast one.

Your mileage may vary.

OK, first even out the front tire pressures when the tires are cold-- anything between 33 (recommended on the driver's door sticker) and 38 is OK.
Cross-check the TPMS readings with a gauge, but I've heard that the TPMS are usually dead-on.
See if the car tracks straight. If it does, good-- that high reading might account for the pull.
If not, the dealer did not "fix" the pull, which may be only an alignment, or may be something else. The pull needs to be corrected; look at your paperwork to see what the dealer agreed to do. You may be stuck paying for a 4-wheel alignment.

Second, register your car with Acura owner services and check to see if it was subject to the wiper motor and power steering hose recalls, and if the recalls were done. You can also contact a dealership with your VIN for that info. If the recalls weren't done, have them done-- recall work is free.
The owner's and Navi manuals are on-line when registered with Acura owner services too.

Then change the brake, oil, and transmission fluids. I don't use a full synthetic oil; that's your preference.
I'd leave the coolant and power steering fluid alone; the PS fluid will be changed out somewhat if the PS recall is done. Follow the Maintenance Minder codes and manual recommendations for maintenance thereafter.

Welcome to AZ.

First, congratulations on getting your 08 TL! Any pics?

In regards to your tire pressure, I recommend you do what "WhatFurrer" and "Will Y." suggested using a hand tire pressure gauge to get the tires within spec. I do the same thing, however, I noticed that my TPMS is usually off a little when compared to hand held tire gauge, but it stays consistent front and back. Meaning, once I get front and back set, they stay within normal range of each other.

My 08 TL came with some cheap tires too, so I got a new set and an alignment. Hopefully the alignment and proper tire pressure will resolve your TL's issue of pulling to the left. Also, I got my TL at an Acura dealership, so it had the full CPO inspection. I recommend you bring the TL to a mechanic you trust, and make sure it's mechanically in good order since it has 80K on it.

I will have a complete check done by Acura dealership for a car (118$). Meanwhile I will check the pressure.

Acura/Honda 0w-20 oil is synthetic as theyre are recommending what you switch to for added protection and added fuel economy. It cant hurt that's for sure.

sorry guys, no pics yet. soon.

The PSI reading was correct. Right-front tire pressure was 46. I'm not sure how they do it in dealership, or may be they just don't care.

Driving today - I didn't notice a pulling towards left. Though I've scheduled a complete car check by local Acura dealership in CT.

Car fax is straight - one owner, maintained and etc...

It was a trade-in in Subaru dealership.

If you have way more air in your front right your car will pull to the left

Check the tag on the drives side door frame. Front tires should be 35 and rears 32 psi
All other above advise seems 'right on',,,, enjoy your car

46Psi?! Thats too much. The TPMS is 100% accurate, I have a digital tire pressure gauge and can confirm this. Alot of mechanics still use the outdated tire pressure gauges that are not accurate. The end result? OVER INFLATION. Be sure to get a digital one, Roadgear Company has good ones.
