Just Bought an '06 TL W/Only 50k Miles - What do I need to know/do?
Just picked up am '06 TL 5AT w/nav. It only has 50k miles and I have a few questions about what I need to do.
I came across another thread about replacing some sensors in the transmission but it was from 2009. Is this something that's been "debunked" or should I do it as preventative maintenance? Also should I be getting the transmission fluid itself changed?
Do these cars have transmission issues? I got rid of an 02 CL Type-S for this car in large part because of the transmission issues. I read that the issue was solved in these trannys after 2005.5 so I picked up an 06 thinking it was a safe bet. Was I right?
Any other maintenance preventative or otherwise I should be looking into at the mileage? The only issue with the car seems to be the ipod cable not working otherwise knock on wood it's pretty solid!

As for preventive maintenance, like any other car really.

^^Do this, change the fluids unless there's records of it being done:
-brake fluid
-tranny fluid 3 x 3 drain and refill
-+/- on PS fluid
-get an oil change
-drive on and don't worry for quite a while!
50K on these cars is just getting started.

Thanks for the input!
So these transmission aren't CL bad though, where they are just constantly failing right? Everyone with those trannys seems to be getting a rebuild every 10k miles.

Not at all...some of the 04 cars got some bad trannys from the last of the 03 model year. The later ones have been decently reliable if cared for- mine is on the original tranny at 106K miles- runs perfectly. I do a 1 x 3 tranny fluid change every other oil change (so every 15K miles) after the original 3 x 3 drain and fill at 50K miles along with the tranny switches. When you read about tranny failures here, I think it's the exception and not the rule (so fairly small numbers of actual failures). Plus, it depends on how the car was maintained and if it was consistently abused or not.

like everyone else said doing 3x3 along with switches and as long as you don't launch the car like drag car, you will be doing ok.
