Jerking while accelerating

Hi all,

Maybe its just me, but recently I've noticed that when I accelerate from a full stop or a slow speed (less than 20mph), the car will occasionally jerk instead of gracefully increasing speed. The jerking lasts maybe less than 1/2 a second. It pretty much feels as if the car is stalling for that small moment until it catches on and then accelerates after the jerk.

I don't think its the colder weather (I live in San Jose, CA), and nor do I accelerate hard. Even when I do accelerate hard, which I've done before, I don't think it should jerk like that. If anything, the RPMs should increase on that gear, then automatically upshift thereby reducing RPM (repeat until correct gear is automatically chosen).

I have a 2005 5AT w/ Navi. 9600+ miles on it.

Any ideas?

Update: After searching around, I see that I'm not the only person with this issue. Possible culprits include a bad/dirty cat converter, or a bad brake sensor which was not throwing the car back into first gear after release of the brake. I will definitely do some more driving tests and see what happens.

Any other things I should do/look for? Or any other general ideas?

I can feel it too now, but my car should do service now, I dunno if the JERK will disappear after the service.
