It's A Great Day...

So, I'm driving to my 5-week summer course 11 hours away today. All is well until white smoke starts pouring out of my exhaust. The transmission was acting VERY sluggish when pulling off to check it out. Took forever to get into gear from reverse and driving slowly it took a very long time to shift. I pulled off the highway, roughly 3 hours away from my house. Opened up the hood and white smoke was coming out. Smelt like burnt rubber also. So, I'm in Shamrock, Texas...yeah, exactly...and I need to be in southern Colorado for class on Monday. Thank god I rode with a buddy. Just spent all this money on my system, cleaned the car up good, I take excellent care of it..synethetic oil change, etc etc. FML

Anyone want to take a guess at what it is? I thought it might be head gasket but why the hell would the transmission be acting extremely weird. Scary actually.

Low idle will make it slow to engage drive or reverse. Low power means you will be giving it more throttle to get moving. The trans sees the heavier throttle and will shift late. Shifting late with the rpms climbing slowly makes it seem like the trans has issues.

First things to check are coolant level and water in the oil. How does the engine idle and how does it rev when in neutral?

I hope that it is something easy like a hose or radiator and that the smoke coming out of the rear was not through the exhaust, but rather underneath.

Well...terrible news, it's the tranny. It's going to have to be rebuilt/replaced. I have yet to hear the exact problem as my father is taking care of al that fore while I'm up here in Colorado, but I'm sure it's going to be a nice chunk of change. Plus my parents have to drive 3ish hours to pick it up...ugh.

I still have my 3rd/4th gear pressure switches new in USPS box. Might sell now that I might not need. FML
