Issues with the Clutch Pedal

Hello everyone,

I just recently bought a 2004 Acura TL 6 M/T. Recently I've been having issues with my clutch pedal. There are times when the clutch pedal feels "loose" and will not disengage the clutch at all until I bottom out the clutch pedal. The strangest thing is that the "looseness" of my clutch pedal seems to fluctuate. Sometimes my clutch feels like normal and other times I struggle to put my car in gear, even with the clutch pedal fully depressed. Thanks ahead of time for the help!

you may just need to bleed the clutch fluid but from my experience, you probably have a leaking clutch master and/or slave cylinder.

check your clutch fluid level. if it's low, you have a leaking clutch master and/or slave cylinder. pretty common on all stick shift hondas with higher mileage and/or age.

look under the dash where the clutch pedal is. you will see black fluid coming out of the firewall where the master cylinder is if it's leaking.

slave cylinder is under the battery, bolted to the transmission. push on the rubber boot and see if fluid comes out. if you see fluid, it's leaking.

my 04 also did that, normal the clutch is soft, but seem like when i got on it the clutch seemed to get harder (i thought it was just my adrenaline) then one day while driving fast the clutch pedal stayed sunk, it would not come up, i limped to the side, i had to pull the clutch pedal up by hand. after that, the clutch did not stay sunk but the pedal does get harder when im speeding, i think i need a new master cylinder....

Thanks for all the help guys! I ended up bringing my Acura ito the dealership and it indeed was a leaking clutch slave cylinder. After replacing the part my clutch is working as normal. Unfortunately the dealership dinged up my frost passenger side rim AND scraped my driver side exterior mirror... hopefully I can get those fixed free of charge.

^^did you tell the dealer before you left with the car? or have you even told them?? be prepared to possibly put up a fight if you haven't told them as soon as you saw the damage.

all the more reason to make sure the car is unmarred after getting the car serviced. i do this all the time. the upside is my dealer knows me very well, so if anything does happen i don't really have to argue with them, they just fix it (it's only happend once with lot damage).

Yea I noticed the damage as soon as I brought my car home. I drove right back to the dealer to complain. I'm supposed to be getting a call from the manager, but you know how that goes.
