issue with Steering wheel "A"

Ok, so I've searched... and looked until my eye's were going cross eyed.

My issue is the Acura "A" in the center of the steering wheel is fading. the crome on it was peeling, and the protective layer is gone and a simple rub and it comes off. Just curious if anyone has delt with this issue b4. also can u remove the emblem to fix it? i'm kinda hesitant to start yanking on it to fix it and not being able to replace it.

suggestions? ideas? rants? free money? winning lottery numbers?

thanks.....

I saw a thread before broaching this issue. My buddy is having the issue in his 2005 TL. I believe the best solution would be to tape off as best you can and carefully sand it down and repaint it? Otherwise, you need to replace the airbag assembly. I swear I remember reading that the emblem is molded to the assembly to prevent it flying off in the event of the airbag being deployed. I would look into sanding and a spray paint solution. Good luck!

the emblem is molded onto the wheel. My suggestion would be to take a fine brush and repaint it.

I painted mine. They fade from the armor all that people put on there steering wheels. The chemicals remove the protective coating, then next the fake chrome paint. Its a pain to paint.

It's a widespread Honda issue. My friends 2009 Civic's H emblem already is peeling.

The clear layer on mine is gone and the chrome faded off on one side. But like Ack said it's the armorall used on the wheel. The chemicals eat the protectant layer right off. I'm gonna wait til mine gets worse then brush paint it. I got a real steady hand for it and have all the stuff I need since I do models from time to time.

I think you could really make it look pretty cool if you used like a gunmetal gray paint on it or something.

I gotta see what colors I have. I thought about doing it red but it won't flow well. So I think the options are silver, black, gunmetal or even (in my case) wdp.
