Interior lighting problem

With the interior lighting switch on the overhead console set to the middle position the map/interior lights should come on when a door is opened and go off after the doors are closed. My rear lights stay on all of the time. Anybody else had this problem?

Press the lens of the rear lights. They can be turned on or off independently of the front console switch.

The rear cabin lights are meant to be turned on and off by passengers and can sometimes remain on if the passengers fail to turn it off after exiting or if someone cleaning the car accidentally pressed the lenses.

Well, I thought I had checked for this but your post prompted me to check again. That was the problem. Feeling a little sheepish here.

Don't worry, when I bought my TL used, I found in the previous owners dealer receipts, that she had taken her car in for the same problem. Only her complaint was that the battery was dead. The tech turned off the rear map lights and replaced the acura battery (aka the 2-year turd).
