Hey guys, my names Matt Jones (lol), and I just joined today. I am most likely buying an 07 TL type S and am looking for input from you experienced Acura guys. I come from the Honda and Jeep world and have plenty of experience fixing everything, but my newest car ever has been a 99 so there is a lot less electrical stuff.
Can you guys give me some Pros/Cons of buying the 07 TL type S. It has 73,XXX on it, and the price is pretty dang good from what I have seen. (16,500). I believe it is Alabaster Silver Metallic and the Interior is Black with Brown.
Thanks guys! Im hoping that all goes well and I can be an active member here!
Oh, and its got an automatic transmission.
Is there anything I need to make sure I look at before buying?

Any pics? Maintenance records? Clear title? Physical condition inside/outside? The price seems good but we need a little more details to point you in the right direction.

The outside and inside are in really nice condition. There is a scratch or two, but the car just arrived at the dealership and hasn't been reconditioned to sell yet. I would assume its a clear title since it is being sold at a VW/ Audi Dealership.
Here is a link to the car:

And keep in mind that the pictures are of it not recon'd yet so no buff, wax, wash...any of that.
The only real damage on the outside is on the driver side of the front bumper, but I was told that would be fixed. Either way, it will probably be covered up by the A-spec kit!

what sort of advice are you looking for?
make sure all body panels have matching VIN numbers, check the carfax report, check tire depth, check for any damage inside and out, and most importantly....have an indy mechanic inspect it prior to purchase. should cost you about $50 or so but is worth the piece of mind knowing you arent buying a junker.

More or less, I was just looking for common problems that I should look for. I test drove it and it rides/ drives great. I guess I am good to go then. Ill report back when I pick it up!

I know the third generation TLs had a whole host of tranny issues. I'm not sure if they include the Type-S or not, however.

The only reason I made that assumption is pretty much all reputable dealers in NY dont sell cars with anything other than clean titles because cars with rebuilt titles have to go through pretty costly state inspections.
I will check the carfax for sure. One of my older friends has been a honda mechanic since the 80s (he is 50 something) so I talked to him today and we are probably bringing the car to his shop friday.
Thanks for the help guys.

common problems in a type-s: flaking interior door handle, bad bluetooth module in overhead assembly, bad compliance bushings, broken mounts(theres 3 motor and 2 tranny mounts), and sagging sunroof visor that makes nasty sounds when it clicks.
looks for any of those and use that to talk down the price
