Improve Acceleration

Hey Guys

I have had my '05 TL AT for over a year now and the performance is good but not consistent...it has its moments.

There are times when the car will hesitate before it actually accelerates when i step on the throttle (2 seconds later, I will get a burst)...I want my car to have good acceleration from jump ALL THE TIME...

Have any of you faced this issue? How can I fix it without adding something to my car that won't make it loud and obtrusive? (I hate those guys with the mods that make their cars unbearably loud)

Thanks alot

is it engine lag or transmission lag
Have you seafoamed the intake and cleaned the throttle plate How are the plugs reading?
Do you run Tier 1 gas and 91 octane all the time?

its the computer lag, say you in 5th gear at 60 and all of a sudden you want all of those 286hp (type S) out of the car, the car cannot offer you that much power/tqr in 5th gear, so it needs to think and say..puts you to 3th then bam! the power comes in and thats when u get that burst, i wouldn't say 2 second, but for a second sometimes it happens.

smart ass answer?

Upgrade your memory; defrag the system.. possibly a new processor...

heeeh

Seriously though.. the car doesn't take that long to perform calculations; however in the interest of fuel economy it might be waiting to see what your plans are; ie - are you going to shove the pedal down further, or did you just need to accelerate a little.. ?

put some seafoam in the tank to aid performance as it will clean up the motor and any comtaminants in the tank. Also unplug the battery for about 30 minutes and perform an Idle relearn procedure, and you are good. This will reset the ECU. Also there is another way to do this, by putting the car into Position 2 and hold down the gas pedal for 30 seconds, then turn on the car.

get a sprint booster for 300 $. supposedly it should cut DriveByWire delay in half. Excelerate is giving a week to try it and if not to send it back for a refund. Im thinking to give it a try... i hate the delay myself.

For the position 2 procedure do you turn the engine on after 30 sec while your gas peddle is pushed to the floor?
When do you let go of the gas pedal?
Does that restart the ecu?

engine lag - TBW or fuel injectors..

trans lag - You might as well take it behind the barn and pump it with led. If you're lucky.. you do a 3x3 with Z1 and it doesn't take a dump on you.

Definitely seafoam at both ends.. how many miles??.. you may need new plugs (NGK Iridiums) as suggested.

sprint booster.. short answer.. Not for your problem.. don't spend $300 thinking it will 'fix' your issue.
