Hey guys. I have an 08 tl base. When I'm idling in park or stopped at a light in drive my rpm's start jumping from 8000 to 11000. It does this a few times and then stops but goes back to it every 45 seconds to a minute. I've got around 114,000 miles and keep it up to date on oil changes and tune ups. Any help would be great. thanks

 

sounds like a vacuum leak of some sort. Did you do the 105K mile service with new spark plugs and timing belt? How old is the battery?

 

the battery is only a year old. And no i haven't changed the timing belt yet. could that affect my idle though? and as far as plugs they were changed about 96,000.

 

check/clean your throttle body

 

Do the idle relearn procedure: Unhook the battery from the car, and wait 15 minutes. Hook the battery back up, and turn the car on with all accessories turned off. Let the car idle for a while, until it reaches operating temperature and the fans cycle on and off twice (it can take up to 15 minutes).
