Icons Missing?

When I start my 04 tl and push the "AUTO" button for heat or a/c the the icons (little people with arrows) do not appear. The strip is blank until I push the mode button. Also when I push "DEFROST" only the drivers side comes on. Anyone have a simular problem?

those icons aren't supposed to show up in auto or in defrost, only when you want to manually change the mode

I just went out and checked mine, It seems to work fine. I did find some interesting information about using your a/c. Anytime your under auto setting with the temperature 86 or below the A/C compressor IS running. It shuts off under the "HI" setting. If you use the A/C Off button you will save some power and gas mileage unless you are trying to get cold air. If you are in Dual mode, either passenger or driver temperature setting set below "HI" will run the compressor unless you press the A/C Off button.
