I just damaged my hood!!! word of advice please...

Hey Guys, I just leased an 07 TypeS literally 3 weeks ago and the hood already needs to be replaced because this past weekend fell from my roof and onto the hood of the car,.. it also left a dent on the left fender which i was told could be fixed but the hood would need to be replaced because it was uneven from all over. Since the hood will be painted, both fenders will need to be as well to match the color. The place repairing it does great work, but Since this is leased car, 3 years later, will the dealer give me issues about? oh, and im not going through insurance, for obvious reasons. Any reply is helpful. Thanks.

Nature Happens. They shouldnt fault you in anyway when it was out of your control. And you may want to report it to your insurance (dependoing on if your agent is suck-tastic dude) cuz it was Nature that damaged your car, again, with no fault of your own. That way when the dealership finds out u did repairs on the car, they wont have any reason to doubt your story (not that they should to begin with). Also, your insurance should not go up. My sister has had huge tree branches fall on her car twice that left major dents and the insurance did not go up at all. Best of Luck!!

Lightbulb comprehensive claim = no rate hike...

That makes it a comprehensive claim on your auto insurance policy, which should not affect your rates like a collision claim would. Call your insurance to confirm, then make a claim and avoid the headaches.

Err, if homeowners insurance covered damage like this, what would be the point of comprehensive auto insurance?

HO insurance, like car insurance, covers your insured property and includes liability insurance to cover damage to other people's property. So, your HO policy would probably cover ice falling off your house and damaging my car as a liability, but not your own car, since your car isn't insured property under the HO policy. Your car policy should cover that.

For some reason, when I read the post the first time around, I thought you said you fell off the roof and the hood of your car broke your fall. Hope everything works out for you.
