I'm using wool felt to fix the rattle in the driver side vent as per the TSB. Unfortunately, I can't seem to simply pop out the passenger side vent as the open/close control below seems to be part of the metal trim that goes across the passenger side dash. Anyone have a picture or a diagram or words of advice as to how this is removed?

 

everything just pulls out...keep wiggeling and pulling...its set in there by clips that just push back in...

 

Including the ~2 foot metal trim piece that appears to be attached to the bottom?

 

The metal pieces will come out as part of the assembly. In fact, the metal part is part of the rattle problem, once you get it out you will see. Just grab and pull (with the car door open). Mine rattled real bad, but the dealer took care of it by using felt everywhere on it.

 

so scarry! i was trying to get mine out today and i couldnt get it. it felt like i was going to break it! Jeff442 were you able to get yours out?

 

I'm about to work on it now. Do you mean the passenger vent or the driver vent? The driver vent pulled right out for me... but I too am afraid to pull out the passenger side. Feels like the metal strip is attached to the dash and I'm going to break something!

 

yeah i know it feels like the metal is going to bend or just snap clips n shit. Yeah the drivers side came out really easily for me too.
