I've never had a leather equipped car and will be planning on getting a used 04 TL. I've heard that the leather isn't that great for the first year, but I'm going to try to find one that is in good condition. I work in a hospital so I'll be wearing cloth scrubs but I have friends who like to wear jeans and I'm worried that they'll wear the leather out and tear it accidently. If that happened, how much would it cost to replace the leather?

 

Depends on what you replace. I've got a '04TL...and I wasn't happy with the leather seats. I had the dealer replace the seat bottoms, backs, cushions, and heaters with the '05 style. Everything was warranty except the cushions and heaters. The new style just will not fit on a '04 style cushion and heater. As I recall.....the cushions are $100/each, and the heater is like $95/each. The dealer split the cost with me since I'm a good customer...and the total charges came to around $300 for everything. The new leather is MUCH better than that crap they used in '04. Everyone with a '04TL should invest in new leather, cushions, and heaters and be done with the problem forever.
