How do I access the thermostat??

Need to replace my thermostat on my 05 TL. I know where it is, but I can only get to 1 of the 2 flange bolts. Even if I remove the intake/air box, its still crammed behind a mess of wire harnesses that are nearly immovable. How the hell do I get to this other bolt?? There is no room for any wrenches!

Please help!!!

This is driving me nuts!!!

Nope-
Even if I could get a socket on that bolt, there's no room to to turn it.

I just did mine and used a 1/4" drive ratchet and swivel. Also used a ratcheting wrench.

there is...lol I changed my thermostat myself couple months ago on my TL. use a swivel/universal joint, I had absolutely no problems doing mine. the bolts were no problem for me, but the thing thats annoying is the coolant that will inevitably leak out.

Alright, finally got the thermostat replaced...what a PITA.
I'm having coolant leaking a little bit at a time, but can not find the leak. I've had the dealership look at it, as well as an indy garage, and they can't find the leak either. Got under the car today, and looked, and it almost looks as if its coming out of the bottom of the transmission (which makes no sense). Ive checked in the valley of the engine for blown head gasket, etc, and nothing. Hoses are in great shape too.
Its not the radiator either.

Does anyone have any idea what the culprit might be? Is there some kind of purge valve somewhere to protect from over pressurization that could be messed up? Could a bad water pump cause a leak??

I'm about to lose my flippin mind on this issue, so any help anyone could offer would be great and appreciated!!!

Thanks!!

The only thing around the transmission case that could be the culprit is the ATF cooler / warmer (cylinder on top of case with two hoses feeding in / out). I'd check there first. You might just be seeing coolant coming down from thermostat as well. I'd hose things down and let it dry before looking for the culprit.
