How bad are these compliance bushings?

My ride has 73000 miles on it. I got new tires and an alignment about 20000 miles ago when I got it. They were BF Goodridge Super Sports. I just had the seller put those tires on so they would match the ones already on there.

Anyways, the tires looked really worn from the outside, and when I went to look at the bushings, I saw the threads showing on the inside edge. I guess now that I got down and looked closer, the tires arent really wearing uneven, just dont like the amount of camber wear that I am seeing. I do not race or drive crazy in this car. I had the alignment done by a respectable place in Houston... He said his only concern was the caster on the front right, and that it wasnt adjustable on this car.

I suppose 20000 miles are good for a front set of tires?? Do you guys think this bushing has anything to do with it? It looks like they have a small tear on each side.

You're not going to find a TL with 73k and perfect original compliance bushings, so the short answer is no, they're not what's causing that wear. Mine are cracked like that at 92k, and I have ~ 30k on my all-seasons right now, with another 5-10k left. It's never "normal" to have inside belts showing while there is visible tread across the tire, regardless of miles driven on the tires.

Did you ever rotate? Even if you didn't, that much wear is odd, although BF Goodrich tires aren't the best. Was the alignment done when you got the tires or after? Definitely looks like crazy toe wear. Do both fronts look like this?

I cannot rotate right now because before I got the alignment, the rear toe was way off causing uneven wear. When I put any of the rear tires on the front there is horrible vibration and road noise due to the "unbalanceable" tires. And yea both front look like that. I am going to get another alignment before I get new tires I suppose. I dont see anything else out of the ordinairy as far as the front suspension goes.

I have to disagree. I have BF Goodrich SS A/S for over 3 years and they have been great. Although, I rotate every 6 months and get an alignment every time.

I agree its not the complience bushings. OP from the look of the picture you posted; it seems like normal wear and tear on the bushing.

I'm confused. Your first sentence contradicts "I got new tires and an alignment 20k ago...." From your first post.

So the alignment was done after the tires were put on?

Out of spec toe can destroy tires in 1000 miles or less. I'd get new tires put on, get the entire suspension checked out and get the alignment done all at the same time, same shop.

Sorry, I should have been more specific. I only got two new tires for the front when I purchased the car, due to a nail being in one of them and they were close to being done anyway.

MY control arm bushings were shot to shit and never had worn my tires out like that.
After replacing he control arm with a new one, my tire did wear just as your picture depicts.

Reason being , I needed an alignment.
