Hit a bad pothole, now there’s an occasional cricketlike sound coming from engine bay

I was going about 35-40 when the passenger side hit a knarly pothole. Later that night the car was kinda bumpy ( not just from the roads) and the next day this weird, squeaking noise occurs sometimes. First it was just on the passenger side but now I can hear it while driving. Ac compressor? Suspension?

Check your rims incase it got bent. Cheapest option for you right now is to start with a wheel balance.

Gnarly pothole at that speed....list of what I would be looking at:

1.) Damaged Tire
2.) Damaged Rim - even if you can't see, may be out of round
3.) Alignment out of whack

I hit a bad one the first week I owned my TL. Cost me a new tire, new rim, and an alignment all before I had even made a single car payment.

As for the squeak? It really could be anything at this point. You will need to narrow down some more details before I can even guess on it. Brakes, heat shield, AC, squirrel caught in belt, etc....

If the pothole has been in the road for an unreasonable amount of time, the city can be held liable for your damages. Check your local laws and city ordinances.

Turns out it was just a exhaust bolt the bump knocked loose! The bumpyness of the road was just a coincidence. I feel dumb for not checking that sooner.
