High speed vibration/wobble starting at 80MPH

Hey guys,

So I have been trying to solve a vibration/wobble problem for quite some time now. I have a 2006 Acura Tl with 99k miles on it. I have a bad vibration felt through the entire car at speeds of 80mph and gets worse as speed increases. I've had my wheels balance and aligned. The tire shop said they would be able to tell if the rims were bent or if tires were bad so I ruled that out. Also when I brake at high speeds the steering wheel wobbles really bad. I've also ruled out motor/transmission mounts as I have replaced all of them. My car is smooth as glass until I hit 80MPH or more. Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Hmmm, i know for sure 40-50mph vibration is balancing needed, 65-80mph is alignment... Now in ur case u state u did both balance & alignment and still? Hmm weird, maybe you axle?

Go for a road force balance. After balancing, have them turn the wheel 180 degrees and balance again, it should be dead on, but if not, there is a problem with the equipment or the center hole is out. They also make a balancer adapter that bolts into the lug holes to make certain the wheel is cenetered.

I did consider the axle but most people with that issue find that it's only under acceleration. The vibration remains even if I coast at high speeds. This problem has been driving me crazy! Could it be a rotor issue?

If you have a really fat person in the passenger seat, do they shake like a bowl of jello?

Regardless, the wobble at speed is usually tire balance/wheel balance. As Turbonut suggests, try Hunter Roadforce Balancing.'

The wobble in the steering wheel under braking is probably a warped front rotor. You might be able to get the rotors machined for a little additional use, but it'll come back. You're going to need new rotors.

I'm going to try and put a new set of rotors/pads on to see if that solves the problem. I've had my wheels/tires balanced many times and the problem doesn't go away so I'm ruling that out. Axles will be the last thing I will look into since it's at high speeds under coasting/acceleration/braking conditions.

1)Rotors/Pads
2)Wheels/Tires
3)Axles

Don't know why you would rule that out as high speed vibration is usually balancing or bent wheel. Like I said, have them balance the wheel, loosne and turn it 180 degrees and rebalance. It should be dead on, but it probably won't be.

Possibily badly torn LCA compliance bushings? Totally guessing here...

Well I just purchased my 2009 with 26000 miles on it last week. On a trip down to VA from NY i noticed this vibration at 70-75 mph. I could see the driver side mirror shaking from it. I took it to the dealer a few days ago and they still have the car. I just spoke to them today and they tell me the car had a bad rotor and I will have the car tomorrow. I will update if it is fixed

Dealer replaced the rear rotors and pads , it seems not to do it anymore. But the funny thing is it had new pads and the rotors were cut before I purchased the vehicle so , IDK

OK I just got new tires put on the car and I was getting vibrations in the steering wheel and you can feel it in the car seat and pedals when I hit 70 mph or higher. I've had the tires rebalance three times since the new tires also an alignment. I've notice each time I get the tires rebalance they put weights in different spots and different amounts each time. Also I have spc camber adjustments front and back. On the front the camber is adjusted by moving the top ball joint plate in or out. On the driver side it is adjusted all the way in and on the passenger side it is adjusted towards the middle of the plate. My car is pulling more to the right now then it did before. And the vibration is still there... what else can I do. I don't want to pay for anymore work unless I know its going to fix the issue lol... damn cars

Check all your bushing, controll arm bushing ,stabilizer bar bushing, front and rear engine mounts and also your shocks might be worn. Vibration while braking is worn rotors. I Hope this help you find your problem. If you have slight vibrations while your car is idling then you will have it while cruising as well.
