HID Problem..
HID Problem..
When I turn my car on sometimes my pass. side headlight is on and sometimes it is off. If it is off.. I turn the headlights on and off again until it pops on.. It is not flickering or anything. I took it to the dealer and they said the bulb is going bad.. Any suggestion on what this could be.
I have an 04 TL (Base) which I bought brand new in 04.

i have the same problem as you... sometimes my pass hid doesnt turn on... i have to turn on/off many times and not always work... unfortunally i cant take to to the dealer (bought it used off a action) i was thinking it was the igniter and not the bulb bc why would it turn back on like perfect..also i did the conversion to switchback and my driver side has the same problem sometimes its on and sometimes i wont turn on at all... what can we do about this ??

A HID bulb itsself will not fail to ignite unless it has cracked, in which case it would be totally dead or if it is pink in color, which means it is close to the end of it usable life and should be replaced immediately. In your case, it is the Ballast (inverter) or Ignitor (pigtail which leads from the ballast to the bulb) the which is on its way out. I would replace the ballast before it does blow the bulb. Ignitors are less likely to go bad because they aren't exposed to the elements, and are located inside the headlight. Dealer prices for a ballast are about $250-300 a piece. I have a spare fullset for sale in the BST section (will fix both headights) for 200 which also comes with a set of ignitors. Might be worth it if you don't want to be charged crazy $ by the dealer. Check my post in the BST if you decide to go this route.
