Hid issue

About a year ago my driver side HID light went out. I went through hell trying to get to the light. Through the wheel well, tamper proof star bit, and unfortunately a lot of time. The new bulb did not work, so I put the old bulb back.

A few weeks later the light started working again.

One thing that I did do last, which I am.not sure if it is related is remove my bluetooth speaker, which at the time was draining my battery. The bluetooth is no longer in the car so I cannot attribute it to that this time.

I will be buying a new bulb and replacing it first just in case it really is a bad bulb, but I am trying to thinking ahead just in case it isn't a bad bulb again.....

Any suggestions as to what I should do or what this could be other than a bad bulb?

Maybe a short or bad connection?

Is this something that is common or have heard of?

Thanks,

Ross

bad igniter, they can be fail to start the bulb therefore no light, you can check by swapping igniter and if that still occurring then its your ballast. I highly doubt its the ballast need to be replace.

HID bulbs should be replaced in pairs!

Remove your front bumper, it'll help a LOT.

Swap the igniter from one side to the other and see if the problem switches sides. Rinse and repeat with all the other parts with the headlights to figure out what the problem part it.

Buy two of those and put a new one on each side. I'd also go ahead and replace your HID bulbs while you have it apart, turn signals wouldn't hurt either.

You can get Genuine Osram CBI bulbs which are some of the best in the industy from powerbulbs.com and they always have a 20-35% off coupon in the banner on their site. Other sites sell for around $200 and amazon has even sold me fakes! I've bought sets for my cars and friends and they have been great every time.

Agree with csmeance. Swap parts from either side since you will be certain they are working, it will ultimately save you time and money. Also take off the bumper, it is not nearly as hard as it sounds and will save you frustration.

I would recommend also changing them in a pair. I didn't but I got very lucky with the bulb I ordered but while youre in there you might as well so they match and wont burn out too out of sync with each other.

I had a similar issue with my 04 TL. I guess I've been lucky because I have 120K miles, 11 years old and have the lights on all the time and just now had one go out.

The other night in the rain, I noticed my passenger high beam wasn't working, but low beam was. Then a few days later, both were working. Now, none

Does that sound like the bulb or another issue? Also, which Osram CBI do you all recommend from powerbulb? Quite a few choices. Since I have a 01/2015 sticker, I've gotta get this fixed in a couple of weeks so I was going to try the method w/o removing the bumper if I need to replace the bulb.

Thanks for your help guys!

Thanks!

Mostly likely the grounds are bad. Try cleaning them (as circled).
