HFL Mircophone

Has anyone ever replaced theirs?

Mine will not recognize "3" It interperts it as "8"

Everything is off and it is quiet.

No need to replace the microphone, sounds like it needs to be calibrated. Hold down the Map/Guide, Cancel, and Menu I believe and it will bring up your diagnostics. The microphone test is in there, if the bars come up green your mic works. You can adjust the sensitivity of it there which should fix your problem. Also, you can't replace JUST the microphone you have to replace the HFL entirely, it is located where the map lights are.

Thanks. I just checked it and all green bars were up.

Additionally what is tire calibration? In the diagnostics?

And one button "trip information" is grayed out..

I changed my settings from a women's voice to a man's voice and my system wouldn't recognize anything. It kept responding "Pardon". I changed the setting back to a woman's voice and it works fine. Sorry a little off topic but I getting accustomed to the NAV/Radio system. I'm sure I'll really be stumped when I get a compatible blue tooth phone for hands free.

Not sure what that stuff is, I am too scared to mess with that stuff. I just leave it as is. Does the mic understand you better now?

Yes oddly it understands "3" now. I don't think I changed anything thou unless I did without knowing it.

Interesting, i just called the dealer today and they told me the mic is not located inside the HFL unit itself and it is its own separate part inside the dome lights - as you know the HFL unit is located in another peice behind the dome light piece.

anyway, maybe someone here can help. I just bought a used 2005 tl - the button on the wheel was not working so i replaced it. The button now works, but the mic does not recognize anything i say (also true for nav controls) - it just says pardon?? I am thinking of replacing the mic now (hence me calling the dealer) - i can not find anyone here that has had to replace it - hoping someone out there can tell me if it is as easy as the HFL unit?
