Hesitation During Acceleration

I have a 2005TL 6SP Manual Transmission and the last month I've experienced hesitation while accelerating from a cruising speed at any gear. It's specially noticeable on 3rd to 6th gear. When I'm at cruising speed around 3000RPM or so and I press on the gas pedal to accelerate to either merge or to pass, the RPM increases at least 1000 RPM show on the TAC but the car hesitates and does not accelerate right away. It almost feels like the clutch is pressed down to shift. After a quick second or so, the RPM goes down then goes back up. That's when the car engages and picks up speed. Like I mentioned I just press on the gas, the way anybody would accelerate to merge or pass, so it's a little more aggressive than normal acceleration. Anybody have any issues like this? I would appreciate any info. or help.

Maybe the APP (Accelerator Pedal Position) sensor is starting to go bad?

AFAIK, this can happen even in the absence of a CEL or stored codes.

G/L. Oh, and you may want a mod to delete the other thread you started.

Thanks Will Y. It's been while since I posted. I thought I didn't send the other post since i got interrupted and the explanation of the problem was a little different. How do you have the mod delete the other post? Thx again.

This sounds like a classic example of a slipping clutch to me--slips in higher gears when torque is applied. Probably time for a new clutch plate.

dannyz, thanks for your input. I thought it might be the clutch as well. So you're saying that even at cruising speed and just by pressing the gas pedal to accelerateand without pressing the clutch that that car will hesitate right? Thanks again.
