Seems like when the car is off and locked the tail lights license plate lights and side markers do not turn off. any ideas why?
There would be times the sidemarkers wouldn't turn off but this is the first time that all 3 of them haven't turned on.

If you leave the parking lights on, the lights will stay lit for a period of time after you exit the car.

Parking lights? and i didn't have anything turned on and the lights stayed on throughout the night

Next time they stay on, reach in and turn the light switch though the various positions to see if that's the problem.
Some cars, have not heard about the TL, will have a headlight switch go bad and the lights will even come on after sitting for a while as the connections are close and the electrical circuit will continue/start to flow.

that didn;t work. tried disconnecting the batteries but that didn't work either.

Have you done any electrical changes/additions (sterio, lighting,etc) to the car?

i have a sub, after market sidemarkers and led interior lights as well as led license plate lights. but i had gotten them almost a year ago and this problem arose just two days ago.
