Help an OG 2nd gen guy out-TRANNY ISSUES
Hey guys
I have some questions for you i hope you can help me with. We have another TL in the family and it happends to be a 3rd Gen TL. I believe it is an 2004 since it was the first year it came out?? anyways, i have experienced the crappy trannies in my car, im on my 2nd. dealer covered thank god. but the 3rd gen has 110k miles on it and is starting to act up.
it is reported to be shifting very hard in maybe 2nd gear, speeds between 20-25mph. So thats why i said maybe because that would be my guess. All scheduled maintance has been done on the car so im guessing this isnt something like a tranny fluid change would fix. I am foreign to the 3rd gen threads unless there pictures
so im asking for your guys advice. Is it just a tranny going bad or is this a common fix?
if it is signs of a bad tranny we want to get rid of the car before it really gets bad. 4k tranny or even 2k rebuild on a 10k car dosnt make to much sense at this point for us.
any help would be great and very appreciated!!

Check the color of the fluid, it should be the pinkish red color. If it isn't, I suggest you do atleast 1 drain and refill and see how the car acts. The 3G transmission has a habit of shifting rough when SLOWLY accelerating near 20-25 MPH because of how short the gears are and the amount of time it has to catch. Try speeding up a slightly faster and it shouldn't be present.
BTW a Fluid change is recommended every other oil change by us Azine 3G'ers even though honda says it's good for every 30K
