Help me fix this connector!!

So I was taking my door panel off and my dumb a$$ let it hang by the wires. Well the wires got pulled out of the connector. There are two connectors that go into the door latch mechanism. These wires are from the top one. I do not know which wires go in which hole (they are different colors). How the hell could I fix this? I am thinking my only options are to buy the whole harness from the stealership, or find the connector on a junk yard car and splice it on the end of these wires. Any ideas?

*whole harness*?? if that means a short cable, that might be best. If that means a rather expensive cable with multiple connectors, then ...

I don't know about Acura, but Chevy will sell just a connector, specific to the requirement, with a pig-tail, to be spliced back to the original cable, after cutting off the original connector (which in your case you pulled off already). See if that is an option - the best in my opinion. Or as you said, you might have to get the connector from a junked car - still a good option.

Hope you know how to solder the new connector correctly, and use shrink tubing.

OR, also my Chevy dealer sells special wire splice connectors, which are crimped in place (so no soldering), and contain both built in sealer and shrink tubing. When the shrink tubing is heated, the sealer also seals the crimp, and the shrink tubing prevents abrasion.

These type of special crimp connectors are also available from electronic stores, but I find it easier to get from my Chevy dealer, as that is what the dealer uses when they make repairs.

It is best to use a special crimping tool, but if you have done this before, you can use pliers, if you know what you are doing.

If you don't know what you are doing, it might be best to solder, although again, if you dont know what you are doing, you will just get a bad connection and an intermittent electrical fault.

There are special tools to disassemble the old existing connector and put it back together with new (or the original) pins - but usually anyone who is aware of this would not have posted - and unless you already have the tools and new pins, its just cheaper to buy a new connector.

Thanks for the tips. Yeah I have no problem splicing the wire and waterproofing it. I will have to see if the Acura dealer has something that will help me. Also, anyone have the wiring diagram? I am not sure which wire goes in what side of the connector. This is for the door lock acutator I am pretty sure. I have a factory service manual that I am looking in right now.

Looks like it is the door lock knob switch connect that I broke. It is a 3 wire connector with only 2 wires. The middle is plugged.

So I got it fixed. The dealership was no help. The said they could order a plug that MAYBE was it, and then I needed a separate pigtail. I went to the local pick-a-part and found the connector on a 2000 accord 2-door. It was in the same place. I spliced it in and it worked fine. Easy money!
