Help with INTERIOR
Hey guys, I've been looking in to changing my carpet due to stains and dirt I havent been able to remove since i bought it.
I've seen several threads on people changing the carpet to black and making it a two-toned interior...
My question is, #1 what can i use to paint the panels shown in the picture (#1) that won't stink like spray paint or come off easily? I was thinking of painting it black to match the carpet as ive seen in some pictures and threads...
#2 Another issue I have is with the alluminum trim (#2) in the picture. It is peeling and is all scratched up. Any tips other than vynl wrap that i can use to fix this annoying look?!

Thanks in advance guys!

Special plastic and vinyl paints are available, specifically for altering the color of auto-interiors. There are actually two specific types avail: one for hard plastics and one for vinyl door panels. They are avail. in spray cans from Corvette aftermarket sites/ mail order catalogs. Sorry, I have never used these products, so cannot speak to their quality, but various auto-magazines have reported that they work.
Now, my RDX came in various interior colors, including black. So for the scuff plate on the door opening, which you have marked in yoour picture, I just bought the black color and replaced my own tan color plate, both front doors, around $20 each.
For the carpet, I replaced the carpet pads (covers) with the OEM rubber all-weather pads (black), which are also avail in tan. I just take out the rubber pads (mats) and wash, then treat with non-slip type vinyl treatments.
Or you could buy new carpet-type mats - many colors and types avail online.
As for the carpet underneath the pads, only the edges and sides are showing. I cleaned those with heavy duty 3M carpet spray (aerosol) cleaner, then treated with 3M carpet Scotch Guard. Do NOT use the Scotch Guard fabric type, as it will remain somewhat sticky. At your local K-Mart there will be dozens of different type carpet cleaners. Your carpets will have to be ruined (damaged) before you cannot clean them as new.
For very stubborn stains, grease, dirt, ink, etc. there is a local (UTAH) company which makes a non-toxic water based fabric and carpet cleaner, which has worked on every auto and household carpet stain I have encountered. I have no idea if it is available outside of UTAH. The company is BRIDGEPOINT and the product is called AVENGE, located in Salt Lake City.
I have also purchased similar products from an auto body shop, but it was pretty smelly, and toxic. I chose the Bridgepoint product specifically because it claims non-toxic.
And finally, I once had a professional carpet cleaner company, the type that cleans home carpets, clean the carpet in my truck, with the mobil-truck and steam hoses and harsh commercial cleaners, when I was stupid and got rust on the carpet.
