Help with HID fogs

Need some help with my HID fogs. I was running 3000k HID fogs before and they woulds sometimes slightly twitch or "flicker". Nothing too serious....today I received my 8000k HID fog bulbs and I put them in and the right side starts strobing and flickering after 30 seconds. The left side has a slight flicker.

I swapped the ballast with a brand new ballast and same problem. I am running a HID Extra ballast and a Xentec ballast, my other new ballast is also Xentec. Could it be the bulbs?

I already have a relay btw!

One other question....how hot does a HID ballast get? My bulbs were on for two min and the ballast was burning hot...same with the bulbs. Ballast+Bulbs are 35W.

Swapped working side with flickering side and the working side started flickering. Clearly the ballast is messed up. Emailed the company to get a replacement sent out asap!

It's the ballasts. Unfortunately the Xentecs are notorious for "flicker", or where the beam would "move" like a candle, just google around. I had them and had the same problem. I double checked the grounds and everything with an HID relay. It's because the ballast quality is cheap.

DDM ballasts do not do the same thing. Xentecs are POS.

Thanks for the reply. That sucks! Its funny how they worked fine with the 3k, maybe I never noticed. The Xentec ballast makes the light output very dim as well. This company blows!

I have xentec's that I've been running for a couple years now......SAME SHIT!!! It's intermittent, at first I thought it was because I'm not using a relay. It usually happens when I first turn them on, only a few times was I driving and it happened.

Edit: Mine actually sometimes shut off completely but as soon as I click off and back on they're good to go.

I just got my 3k HID kit today from theretrosource.com. I've never messed with HID's before or know anyone personally that has this kit, but when I can get around to installing it, I'll let you know how it goes.

Park it in the garage turn car on, after 2 min it will start flickering like crazy. It stops and starts but it looks really cheap lol.

Lol, yeah it probably is real quick, but I got the harness with mine for added insurance, so it looks like it will be a little extra work mounting, zip tying things, and figuring out all the connections so it works right. I love how none of these things ever come with any type of directions.

Cool. I also have a harness. A local member, very knowledgeable cool guy Lex (InFamouSLinK) made my fogs independent. Took forever to do! But worth it, makes the car look much meaner when running just fogs or parking lights+fogs.

And yeah no directions or directions in another language (happened 3x to me).

Yeah I would like to eventually do that with the fogs, but I'll just take it one step at a time. Plug and play stuff is good enough for me without having to rewire a bunch of things to get the fogs to come on separate. I kinda don't trust myself in that department, unless it is REALLY laid out in black and white for me. Probably once I see it done I would be fine with it, but since it's a nice car and so finiky when it comes to certain things, I hate messing with it and have a fear of screwing it up. I wouldn't mind paying someone that knows what they are doing to do it for me, but unless it's someone pretty local, I don't want to drive all over the place to get it done.
