Are you able to pick up a signal with a different device? This would ensure that the source isn't weak.
1) Check the antenna connector on the back of the radio. Make sure it's all the way in and not damaged.
2) The FM antenna is on the rear glass. Does your rear defogger work? If not, then your antenna is damaged.
3) Next I would check the length of the antenna cable from the radio to the rear. Maybe someone else was in there before and damaged it.
4) Also possible: FM demodulator in your head unit could be damaged. This would mean you need a new radio.
Good luck troubleshooting, report back!

My 97 Acura CL has the antenna in the back glass as well and gets really great reception compared to my 08 TL.
Example: I listening to the radio in the morning on the way to work (50 mile commute). In the CL I could listen to this station for 20-25 minutes before I got too far from the signal. Now I can listen for about 10 minutes before the static becomes unbearable.

There is no antenna on the front window. The rear defogger acts as the AM/FM antenna. The shark fin (if you are not in Canada) is the XM antenna and the GPS is on the rear deck.
