not sure why it would take that long, it shouldn't; I don't know how old your TL is but I def take it into the dealership if it is still under warranty to have that looked at; could be something with the electrical connection between the computer and heating element, but it could be a number of other reasons as well

usually I start to feel heat after about 1-2 minutes after I put them on and then by about 5 minutes on the hi setting the seat gets pretty hot until it shuts off, which I then switch it to the low setting to keep the seat continually heated!

what really is lousy with the heated seats is that the passenger seat does not heat the back cushion like on the driver seat; having a lumbar spinal fusion, you can see how this really irritated me after I got the car; at first I thought something was wrong with the heater in the passenger seat until I went into Acura and found out that is the way the heated seats work in all Hondas and Acuras; they gave me the lame excuse, as did Acura HQs, that because of the passenger front airbag sensor in the passenger seat they can't put a heating element in the back cushion in the passenger seat

yet I told him that Nissan, Infiniti, Toyota, and Lexus heated seats have the exact same passenger airbag sensor as Acura does yet do not seem to have a problem with their heated front passenger seat from heating both the butt and back cushion so there is no reason why Honda and Acura can't do the same

hopefully Acura and Honda will correct this within the next few years

suffice it to say, I try to be the driver as much as possible so that I get the benefit of both the butt and back cushions heating!!!

best of luck on finding out what is wrong with your heated seat

Mine are all over the place. It seems on those really cold mornings when I really need the heat it takes 15 minutes and sometimes it's nearly instant.

My seats burn my ass.. You do switch it to high right?

Quite often my dog gets curious and pops her head through the center console and tries to get into the passenger seat even with my gf sitting there. 2 minutes later my whole back & ass is on fire.. she accidentally steps on the switch.

What do you do to protect your seats and center consol from getting trashed by your dog?

I keep a thick blanket in the trunk and tuck it in over the back seat when mine is aboard. I can't leave him in the car though because he will climb into the front and scratch everything. He's 65 lbs and never moves slowly!

Thanks!

My dogs are 30 lbs but they do beat up on the seats. I leave a sheet down, but most of the time I take them in the MDX because The TL seats are too cramped and I slush through turns too fast to their liking.. my poor seats. I know there are "doggy seats" but I'd rather spend the money on saddle soap & conditioner. I refinished the center console armrest to cover up the scuff marks, not from my dogs but from previous owner. If the dogs scratch it up I'll refinish it again.
