Headlight Problem
Headlight Problem
I recently dropped my car off ( 04 TL base ) at my friends house to get my motor and trans mounts replaced. I have always noticed that the inside bulb of my headlights ( closest to the grill ) never turned on but I never thought anything of it because everything else works ( high beam, low beam, etc. ) When he was working on my car he noticed that the bulb was broke so he decided to take it out and replace it. It was broke for a while because it had rust on the tip. He replaced it and either side still doesn't work ( both sides NEVER worked anyway ) . All the fuses are good and all the other lights still work as they did before. Any idea what the light is even for and why they wouldn't be turning on? Attached are pictures of the bulb I am talking about.
If all your lights are working then it's probably DRL. If you want to know for sure then ask your mechanic friend. If he doesn't know find another mechanic. However, before you fire him ask him what is the replacement bulb's ID number? With the ID number someone here will be able to tell you for sure what that bulb is for.
Those are fog lights. The '04/5/6 TL's delivered in the US didn't come with DRL's unlike the Canadian models where those bulbs did double as DRL's.
In my car's case however, they do double as DRL's as I have the same module Canadian Acura dealers installed in all pre-2007 cars that moved to Canada as DRL's have been mandatory by law up there for many years. DRL's became mandatory in US cars beginning with the 2007 model year

Update
Thanks for the info! Everything is working and looking good. However, now the passenger side turn signal/parking light goes in and out. I am going to replace the bulb and hope that it's nothing more serious than that. When it goes out... I hit the top of the fender it comes back on.
