Question Headlight Problem

I got my headlights replaced two weeks ago, after 3-5 days later the driver side stopped working, but not completely it would turn on after trying to fire them up 15 times or so, I gave up on them and started to see the passenger side doing the same after 2 more days from the driver side. I went and got both replace again last night happy that the new ones are working and thinking just my luck I would get defective headlight the first try. The two new headlight work problem solved at the mechanic's shop.... I get home turn off my car and forgot to get something from the store. I turn my headlight knob and WTF they are not turning on again I just got them replaced. They fog lights and daytime running lights work but not the HID.

$340 down the drain to have 4 headlight bulbs not work within two weeks. I never had these problems until I replaced the first bulbs.

What was your question?

Get pissed and get your money back if the bulbs are defective.

Sounds more like a ballast/igniter problem to me

I agree, sounds like bad ballasts, I had this problem in my old Jetta I did a projector retrofit with using some cheapo eBay hid's and the crappy ballasts were the issue, got some real ballasts out of a Nissan Altima and they worked like a champ.

What kind of bulbs are they? Where did you get them installed? I know a LOT of places locally sell those $50 eBay HID kits for over $300 so just because they're expensive doesn't mean they're good.

Check brand names, when dealing with bulbs there is no "as good as" you either have good ones or you don't.

They could have also installed 55w HIDs and used the stock 35w ballasts which would lead to them overheating and turning off until they cool back down unless the damage is done and they fried the ballasts.

Personally, I would just buy some factory bulbs, nothing will be better unless you buy some really high end aftermarket D2S bulbs from Philips or sonething and installed the entire 55w upgrade kit yourself to make sure nothing was done half assed.

Actually, I didn't notice thoiboi said igniter too. Those eBay kits don't use igniters, they're build into the cheap ballast so if they tried to use any of the eBay stuff with good bulbs or eBay bulbs on OEM ballasts it would have igniting problems.
