hey i gota 04 tl and the passenger headlight does not turn on sumtimes...im pretty positive its the ballast...i was wonderin if any else had the same problem or if its not the ballast

 

The only way to figure that out is to take the parts from the working headlight to the non working to figure out what the problem is. Bulbs first of nothing works then try the ballast.

 

The only way to diagnose which part(s) is faulty is to do the switch, as nate mentioned.

This happened to me three weeks ago but I was 2,000 miles away visiting the fam for Christmas so I was left with little choice but to have the dealer diagnose it and repair the issue.

In my case, it was the igniter, not the control unit (ballast) itself.

Some questions for you though: I assume from your OP that it just doesn't turn on at all sometimes?

I ask because if the bulb isn't giving off as much light as it should, or if it's changing colors, then it's a bad bulb. If your case is anything like mine, it will either be the igniter or the ballast itself.

Pretty unfortunate, though, since those two are the most expensive individual pieces of the headlight assembly...if you get them from the stealership they'll run you over $200 each, but thankfully it's usually just one that needs replacing.

 

im assuming its the ballast or the igniter so i ordered them both of ebay...for both sides jus incase the driver side goes out n the future...i got both for $60 shipped...thanx for ur input guys really appricitate it...
