Smile Headlight and Foglight completely out..help!

I've been driving with my headlight and foglight out for a few weeks now and am tired of being scared that I might get pulled over and get a ticket. Is there anyone that has experienced this before where 1) Headlight and foglight would come on intermittently for a few months and then 2) Completely quit coming on at all.. a while ago i could bash the light with my fist and it would come on.. now it just seems that it never comes on at all. Any thoughts about why this might be happening? Thanks in advance!

I think you need to move to more advanced techniques. May I suggest a swift ninja karate chop or roundhouse kick?

Or you could check the harness connection. That's not as fun.

Did you check the blinker fluid? J.K.

I used to use the same trick on my old car: intermittent headlights were fixed with a swift hammer fist to the hood. The problem turned out to be bad bulbs, but these were halogen, not HID. I would start there, though after making sure the harness connections are okay.

Generally if a smack makes something electrical work again, there is a bad/loose connection. I do not know the wiring of our lighting system well, but I would start with checking the bulb connections and then checking the ground connections for the lights in question.

Strange enough the hard hit to the light stopped working and now the only thing that works (very rare) is if I turn the car on and then twist the light switch several times. I'll check the connection again and see if I can find something, in the mean time are there any suggestions as to why twisting the light switch would cause it to come on? Could it be the igniter?
