Question Headlight bulb out!!

So I am on vacation this week in HHI, SC and I arrive to the house and notice that apparently during the drive down from MD my drivers side head lamp went out. I didn't notice it ever going "Pink" like many have said in this forum, it just went out. So I am here in town for a while but need to get it fixed before leaving at the end of this week. I need some suggestions, I called Acura in near by Georgia and they said the "bulb" only cost $260, WTH!!!! I found the DIY replacment for the bulb, so I guess I just need suggestions. Your help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks
JS

Mine went out a couple of months ago and it ended up not being the bulb at all. Several people told me it was probably the ballast but after some troubleshooting and a couple hundred dollars later it ended up bing the igniter. I got one used from the parts guy at my local Acura dealer for $10. If you are going to pull the bumper off anyway I would see if you can find a used one to at least try. If you want you can PM me and I will send you the guys name and number. I am sure he would work something out with you.

was there moisture INSIDE the lens of the headlight recently?
that kills ballast and the bulb

Its easy to remove the bumper cover (have a friend help lift off)
Swap the bulbs left to right and see if the same bulb is out or the same side is not working'
Proceed from there

Cheap bulbs are osram and phillips- get color 4300K may find for 80 a pair online
Kaixen bulbs from vendor here- Excelerate- are awesome replacements
get 5000k for slightly more blue output than stock--he runs an azine spcial price so PM or call him direct- was 110 pair last year

If it is a bulb- replace both or they wont match color and light output

The bulbs shouldn't cost more than 60 bucks for a nice set of bright HIDS. If your ballast does go out and you dont want to pay the dealership price just get your self an HID conversion kit and replace both sides.

not just engine OFF, but several HOURS after the bulbs were last On before you can SAFELY work on them, any sooner and you risk shock hazard
The capacitors store enough voltage to blow you back several feet

I dont know what you consider good bulbs and for only 60 bucks- are those on your car now?
