Have you heard the latest buzz?

It's coming from my dash!

I am getting a rattling noise from my center console when the car is moving. I have found that if I open the pop-up door on the top storage area (beneath the radio), the noise goes away.

Has anyone else had this problem? If so, was there an easy fix?

Thanks!

Re: the dash buzz, I am 99% sure it is coming from the area where the red arrows are pointing. I inserted some foam material there-now it stopped buzzing.

Novice - Thanks, but the rattling isn't coming from my dash, exactly - I believe it's coming from the center console based upon how the rattling goes away with the storage door open. However, I'm going to remember your suggestion for future reference if I do get dash-related rattles!

I have the same issue. I bought a large $1.29 Turtle Wax car wash sponge and stuffed it in the compartment, closed the door, and the issue has been alleviated. I was going to have the dealer fix it but am afraid they will cause more rattles while fixing this one.

Same area for me. It's the hinge moving. If you open the door, and touch the hinge on the left side, it stops. (Well, it does for me.)

I plan on putting some felt tape or something in there (like pinito) to squelch the sound.

Thumbs down

I had an annoying buzz coming from what seemed to be somwhere just to the right of the instrument cluster. Turned out some of the screws holding the subwoofer housing under the dash were loose.

Face it folks, the only way Acura could offer a car with all these features for this kind of money would be to cut corners somewhere. Judging by all the rattle problems I've had and all the rattle complaints in this forum, there's no doubt whatsoever they did.

Hey I have the same buzz that sounds like its coming from the instrument cluster. Are you talking about the center speaker? Its driving me nuts. So many rattles....I can't even listen to talk radio. I have to blast the ELS system so I don't hear them and get aggravated.

I opened the top compartment door to see if I could feel anything loose. With some disappointment, I found that the compartment itself is a little loose, and appears to be made from cheap, thin plastic that could be causing noise any number of ways.

Sigh.

I have both these rattles, the center speaker buzz and the console that creaks and groans and pops. I just drove around for an hour trying to pinpoint these noises. I had the center speaker grill replaced, but it still buzzes, so maybe the screws on mine are loose too. The console noise appears to be the upper and lower compartment doors and the inside plastic. The shifter bezel is suspect too, and if it were metal as it should be it wouldn't be a problem.

Over all I feel the interior materials used are very good quality, one of the things that makes the interior so attractive. But I think a few unfortunate cheap plastic parts were used and are causing this racket. From my research on these problems it seems everyone that is complaing has the same 6 or 8 problem spots. I will keep working on these and taking the car back until these are all fixed. Mine are below.

1) Steering wheel rattle. Fixed with new airbag cable reel.
2) Sunroof rattle. Fixed. Sunroof deflector adjusted, felt placed underneath center to dampen when closed. Someone has a thread on this excellent fix.
3) Console compartment boxes rattle. Working on this one. Back to Acura.
4) Shifter bezel creak. Working on this one. Back to Acura.
5) Rear deck cover (?) thunking over bumps. Working on this one. Back to Acura.
6) Drivers sun visor rattle when down. It is the ceiling clip, not visor will have Acura check.

Hi GotJazz...

I had the same buzz! It's where I put my sunglasses. The top flip door just below the radio. And my too... I open it and the buzz goes away.

I took my car to Scottsdale Acura and they fixed it. They knew exactly what it was. I think they put some sound damping material around the box behind the dash to keep it from vibrating and buzzing.

Same here. (well, different dealer) All fixed, no more rattle . . . there.

My rear deck is still annoying me ever so softly . . .
