Unhappy Has anyone 'heard' these?

Have these rattles been covered in the forum? I again tried looking for them, but to no avail.

Regardless of the position of my sunroof (closed, tilted or open) I had a rattle. I touched every surface around where I thought the sound was coming from - actual roof, glass, rubber seal, sliding visor - and could not pinpoint it Then I noticed that there was another rattle coming from the front passenger seating area.... Again, couldn't tell if it was coming from the seat belt area, center console area or the seat itself. The weird thing about all of this is the rattles would only start up after the temp in the car was about 70 degrees.

Anyway, took the car to the dealer.... Planned on leaving overnight, but tech said he figured out that the seating area rattle was coming from the seat rails.... Of course they didn't have any there and had to special order, so I'm waiting to bring the car back for that fix. I am happy to report that the sunroof rattle is gone.

Hopefully next week, I'll be cruising rattle-free....

I had the front seat rattle and it was only at temps in the 70's and 80's. Kind of a metal on metal clinking noise only with nobody in the seat. Isolated to right side rail. I just took out the right front anchor bolt for the front pass seat and placed a small felt pad between the bottom of the rail and the carpet. Put the anchor bolt back in and voila, no more rattle, not anoying trip to a dealer that would replace a part instead of a simple fix. I'm betting just dissassy/reassy would have fixed it but the felt pad as insurance. Nobody is ever going to see it.

The rattle near the sunroof for me was only when it was closed. The pop-up wind deflector was buzzing against the internal surfaces of the sunroof area. Simply adding a small piece of foam for it to "land on" was all it tool. Looks like a black foam bumper that belonged there all along. Just enough height to keep it from buzzing but not deform it.

Maybe it's me but I find these all part of the new car thing and just can't be bothered with the dealer keeping the car and either not fixing them or fixing them too much. Trust me, you can fix something too much...

Total investment = 0
Time w/o car = 0
Wasted time at dealer = 0

Give it a try. You may just save yourself a bit of time and not be w/o th car.

Glad to have helped. Out of curiosity, did you need to use any felt pads of did you just unbolt and re-bolt ?
What really freaks me out is I thought this rattle was so unique that I'd never hear about anyone else having it. Somethings up with that rail and the way it is mounted.

Somewhat unique to a point that I knew it was coming from the seat but couldn't identify the source. First I thought it was coming from the plastic tubing under the seat. 2 frustrating trips to the dealer, and although they heard it they couldn't find it. I bought a battery terminal felt pad, about an inch in diameter and a hole was already pre-cut. I placed it just like you recommend it, re-tightened it and no more rattle. As soon as I unbolted the seat and tapped on it I could definitely hear that annoying metal on metal click. During this process I unbolted the left railtoo and noticed that on the left side the carpet is pinched between the floor and the seat, however the right one was metal to metal. I've heard few people complain about the pass seat rattle and I would guess it's coming from the right side rail. Again thanks very much for the fix because this rattle really bummed me out and completely took away from enjoying the ride. I'm sure this will help others as well.
